Dawn Kennedy

I’m a prolific writer and soulful solo female traveller who avoids capital cities and likes to linger longer.

Born and raised in a small town in rural Northern Ireland, I’ve lived between the UK and Cape Town for 30 years and I’m intimate with the people, culture, and landscapes of the Western Cape Province. My writing has been widely published in South Africa and, for several years, I wrote a travel column for the Cape Times and co-edited a travel magazine about Cape Town and the Winelands.

As the senior lecturer in journalism at City Varsity I taught popular courses in long-form non-fiction and creative writing to both students and adult learners. I published the book Writing Features: For Websites and Magazines based on the course content that I created.

Currently I’m completing an MA in nature and travel writing at Bath Spa University and sharing my passion for South Africa’s incredible natural beauty with UK readers.
